Welcome Parents of Agawam and Feeding Hills We have almost 4,500 students in our district. About 650 of these students receive special education or related services through the Special Services Department. We are the largest member district of the Lower Pioneer Valley Educational Collaborative, but we want you to feel like you're part of our family.
Providing instruction that is responsive to the needs of diverse learners and respecting individual differences are core values of the Agawam Public Schools. More than 85 percent of students with disabilities in the Agawam Public Schools attend classes with their non-disabled peers for some or all of their school day.
Who We Are The Special Services Department provides a continuum of special education supports and services for eligible students with disabilities from age 3 through graduation or their 22nd birthday, whichever comes first. With nearly 80 special educators and 85 special education paraprofessionals, the Department provides inclusionary services as well as specialized programs for students requiring specific teaching strategies and/or curricula to address language-based learning disabilities, developmental or intellectual disabilities, emotional disturbance, and autism.
