| Information about our School Lunch Program
The Agawam School Lunch Program is sponsored by the Massachusetts Department of Education for Child Feeding Programs and the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Services. Our goal is to plan, prepare, and serve nutritious meals, so that children are motivated to make healthy food choices at school and at home. The traditional food-based, menu planning system requires specific food group components to be served in specific amounts for each age/grade level. Established in 1946, this plan was designed to provide each child with 1/3 of the recommended dietary allowance per day. Under the supervision of Joseph Lecuyer, Director of Food Services, the Agawam School Lunch Department is responsible for serving 4,400 Students and 600 Staff Members per day. Our mission is to provide students with a healthy lunch that meets 1/3 of their daily nutritional requirements, according to USDA guidelines.
