AR Expectations

    In fourth grade, students move from learning to read to reading to learn.  We have a great computer based program called Accelerated Reader.  Students may choose a book that we have a test for, read it, and then test their comprehension through multiple choice questions on AR.  Please take advantage of my webpage on the Agawam Public Schools website.  There you will find the link for Quiz List which students may use to see which books have tests at the Granger School Library.  Below you will find my expectations for their reading this year. 

. Students will read at home 20 minutes a night Monday through Sunday.

· Students must follow the reading levels as outlined in the chart below unless a different level has been agreed upon with the teacher.

· Students are expected to complete an AR book every two weeks.

· Quizzes must be taken on AR books to show understanding. The average for those tests and the average book level will be reported.

· Students must receive a 70% or higher to pass an AR quiz.

    Our first AR test is due Tuesday, September 27th.  Unfortunately, we will not be visiting the school library until mid September.   I am asking that you visit the Agawam Public Library during this week to check out a book for your child.  If this is not possible, please let me know and other arrangements will be made.  Remember to check Quiz List to see if Granger has a test for their book.
