"Put Children First"

Welcome to 5th Grade

Dear Students and Parents,

Welcome to Room 212. I am excited to begin this school year with you.  I hope you are ready and well rested for our first day of school.  One of my goals this year will be to help students use organizational skills.  I will encourage students to learn strategies that will allow them to become independent.  Each student will be responsible to keep a classroom binder.  Students will use the binder to organize notes, handouts, quizzes, and tests.  The Roberta G. Doering Assignment Agenda and preparation materials for studying will also be located in the binder.  I ask for your assistance to gather the following materials for school and home use.

Supply List: 3 ring notebook for in and out of class; colored index tabs, 3 pocket folders for Social Studies, Science, and English; hole reinforcers; pencil bag; black and blue ink pens; pencils; highlighters; post-it notes; gluesticks (2 to 3); colored pencils (assortment for mapping skills); index cards.

The binder will be used as a "traveling desk".  Hopefully, in this way, you can keep track of daily activities easily.  I hope you have fun shopping for your school supplies.  I look forward to meeting all of you.
