What is Intensive Math?

The Intensive Math course was designed to teach students who would benefit from additional support in Mathematics. The purpose of the course is to teach children in a small group setting and to offer individual, appropriate accommodations to assist them with math learning.

Extra Help

I stay after school one afternoon each week in Room 209 to provide support to students. Your child may want:

          • Help with the lessons and homework of the week
          • Instruction on classes missed
          • Review and practice of previous concepts

The students stay until 3:40 and may be picked up, take a late bus, or walk home.

Make-up Work

If absent for any reason, students are expected to make up all missed work. This includes reading the missed lesson(s) in the textbook and completing all written assignments. The student should stay after to receive instruction on the missed lesson(s).

Grading Policy

Grades are based on homework, quizzes, classwork, MCAS homework, and chapter tests.

          • Most homework assignments are marked with a check plus (110%), a check (100%), a check minus (75%), or a zero (0%).  Some assignments are graded as a percent.  Homework counts as 10% of the term grade.
          • Quizzes and classwork are worth 40% of the term grade.
          • Chapter tests are weighted as 50% of the term grade.
