The Intensive Learning Classroom

What are we about?
Low teacher to student ratio- The classroom is a self-contained classroom with a low student to teacher ratio, providing the opportunity for small group work, some 1:1, and individualized instruction.
Specific strategy instruction and Use of specialized programs: LiPS, Seeing Stars, Lexia, Visualizing & Verbalizing
All curriculum content is modified in terms of complexity, readability, vocabulary and pace of instruction. An emphasis is placed on meaningful learning activities.
Mrs. Berselli, a speech language pathologist is in the classroom two periods a day for additional support with phonological awareness skills, reading, oral and written expression, and a weekly pragmatics group.
A supportive learning community- We provide a safe learning environment in which students can learn at their own pace, feel comfortable to take risks, and be active participants. Social skills are specifically taught and continually reinforced throughout the school day.
