AGAWAM JUNIOR HIGH LIBRARY MEDIA CENTER

Picture of Agawam Junior High School Library

The Agawam Junior High Library and Media Center is open  Monday through Friday 7:45 a.m. to 2:20 p.m.  and Wednesdays after school 2:25 p.m. to 3:20 p.m. Come in before or after school to check out or renew books, study, read magazines or newspapers, do research, and use the computers for academic work.  It's important that you learn to use the Media Center independently, but if you have a question, don't hesitate to ask us. We'll be happy to help you.

AJHS Library Policies

Regarding Books
Up to 3 books may be checked out at a time for a period of 3 weeks.
Overdue book charges are $.05 per school day.

Overdue Notices
Notices are sent to a student’s homeroom every other day. If a student’s book is overdue, library privileges are suspended until the book is returned or the replacement cost is paid. If a book is one month or more overdue, a notice will be mailed home.

Accelerated Reader
The Accelerated Reader program is used by seventh and eighth grade English classes. After reading a book the student may take a short quiz on the computer to measure comprehension. Quizzes may only be taken at school. You may use the online Accelerated Reader Test List to see what Accelerated Reader quizzes we have in our school.

Directed Learning Students

Students coming to the library from their directed learning classes may use the computers for academic work if they are not being used by classes in the library. If their class work is complete, they are welcome to read newspapers and magazines, check out books and take AR tests in the twenty minutes they are allotted.

See Mrs. Shugrue's web page for research links, teacher assignments, and other helpful information regarding the Agawam Junior High School Library.
