BUDGET DEADLINE AND SCHEDULES
Before the first regular meeting of the School Committee in February, the Superintendent, assisted by the Assistant Superintendent for Business/HR, shall prepare a tentative operating budget for the following year and submit it to the Committee. In the preparation of the tentative budget, the Superintendent will confer with members of the school staff concerning needs.
No later than April, the School Committee will hold a public hearing on the budget prior to April 30th. Newspaper advertisement of the date, time, and place of the public hearing will be made at least seven (7) days before the hearing. Copies of the proposed budget will also be made available to the public.
The Agawam School Committee will conclude its budget deliberations and submit an approved budget to the Mayor.
The Capital Improvement Budget will be developed and submitted to the Mayor in advance of the operating budget at such time as the Mayor directs.
