Chair R. Cohen called the meeting to order at 6:07 p.m. in the Agawam Middle School auditorium.

Present:  A. Bonavita, D. Juzba, K. Mouneimneh, L. Galarneau, R. Doering, & S. Reed (arrived at 6:10 p.m.)

R. Cohen turned the meeting over to Dr. Czajkowski who explained that the School Committee’s Goals & Objectives were last updated in June 2007.  She then distributed copies of “Vision 2010”, the district’s goals, prior to reviewing each of the Committee’s present six (6) Goals & Objectives.  Dr. Czajkowski explained that, this summer, she will work on a new, 5-year, district plan encompassing the years 2010 to 2015.  She noted that her administrative team will also have input into the plan’s development during the annual Administrator’s Retreat in August.  She further explained the importance of why the Committee’s goals should align systemically with those of the Superintendent, district, schools, and teachers.

Next, Dr. Czajkowski distributed the Mass. DESE’s “Draft District Standards and Indicators,” which includes 11 Conditions for School Effectiveness (CSE).  She then reviewed each of the 11 conditions with the Committee.

After lengthy discussion, it was the consensus of the Committee to develop Goals & Objectives for 5 years and to align them with the DESE’s 11 Conditions of School Effectiveness.

Dr. Czajkowski then asked for two or three Committee members to work with her over the summer months to draft new language for the Committee’s 5-year Goals & Objectives, noting that the whole Committee will be able to review the draft ideas, which will be sent to the Chair and Committee in their packets, prior to their adoption.  Mrs. Doering, Mrs. Juzba, and Mrs. Mouneimneh volunteered to work on the Committee’s Goals & Objectives with Dr. Czajkowski, who will establish meeting dates.

There being no further business, the workshop was adjourned.
