Mr. William Sapelli, C.A.G.S.
Superintendent of Schools

A life-long resident of Agawam and a graduate of its schools, Mr. Sapelli received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Economics from St. Anselm's College in New Hampshire, a Master of Education degree from American International College, and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Educational Administration from Westfield State College.
An employee of the Agawam Public Schools for the past 34 years, Mr. Sapelli began his career teaching eighth grade Social Studies and Science. He assumed his first administrative position in 1985 when he was appointed Assistant Principal at the Agawam Middle School. In 1990, he was promoted to Principal of Robinson Park School, a position he held for 12 years. Then, in April 2002, Mr. Sapelli was appointed Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, a position he held for 9 years and included system-wide curriculum and professional development, Section 504, Title I, and bilingual education.
Most recently, in December 2011, Mr. Sapelli was appointed Superintendent of Schools for the Agawam Public Schools. As the district’s Chief Academic Officer, he oversees an annual budget of approximately $34 million dollars; a student population of 4,300; and a staff of 600.
When not working at his desk in central office, his pastimes include serving as a collegiate ice hockey official and golf. |
