COUNSELOR’S MISSION STATEMENT

Counselors work together in partnership with the community to promote the development of each student's academic, social/emotional, and career potential. Through a comprehensive counseling program, counselors assist all students in realizing their abilities, interests, and goals as they transition through the educational process to become successful members of society and life-long learners.

Statement of Philosophy

The school counselors believe the following:

All students regardless of race, ethnic or cultural background, sexual orientation or special needs have the right to access the services which are offered by a comprehensive school counseling program.

Education is best achieved when students become involved in experiences which are relevant to their lives in the world today. Students will be provided a school counseling program which will be supportive of learning, promote physical and emotional safety and develop in the students a feeling of self-worth and accomplishment.

The school counseling program should:

  • be planned and implemented by professional, certified school counselors who endeavor to consult with representatives of the school and the community

  • enhance student learning by engaging them in classroom, group and individual activities and by engendering personal, social and career development in a physically and emotionally safe atmosphere

  • utilize data and technology to guide the development and evaluation of the school counseling program

School counselors will do the following:

  • abide by the code of ethics in their delivery of services as recommended by the American School Counselor Association

  • participate in on-going professional development in order to maintain a school counseling program of high quality
